This is the first post in the Open Origins blog.

Just to introduce myself, my name is David.  You can call me David, Dave or DJ.
Just don't call me any obscenities Tongue out

I am a 15 year veteran of the military and grew up an Air Force brat.  I have also traveled to
over 20 countries and have experienced a wide range of cultures and religions.
Currently my own personal beliefs are somewhat agnostic leaning towards deism.  However, I grew up in a Christian family (father and grandfather were ordained ministers).  I try to keep an open mind about these types of things but also weigh everything against the evidence at hand.  I believe that science can answer many of our questions about natural processes but that science is bound by it's very definition to defining natural phenomena and cannot empirically answer metaphysical or philosophical questions such as whether we have a soul, is there an afterlife, do supernatural phenomena such as miracles occur, or do supernatural entities such as God exist.

The purpose of this site is to maintain an open discussion of science, philosophy and religion in the field of origins both of the universe and of life itself.  I am open to discussion, rational arguments, etc however I have some ground rules that I would like to layout before we begin.  Please keep vulgarity and obscenities to a minimum. I try to treat everyone with respect and I expect everyone here to do likewise.  Rational bantering back in forth is encouraged but if things get personal (i.e. name calling, insulting obscene remarks, etc) than you have crossed that invisible line.  I will warn you the first time and any further incursions will result in temporary or permanent barring from posting comments.  On the other hand just because someone says something you don't like does not mean I will automatically kick you off the blog or forum.

With that said, please feel free to post comments, ask questions, start discussions, and provide feedback of how to make this website better, etc.   Some of the features we have on this site include this blog, a forum, a gallery for pictures and videos, and scientific and religious articles.   If you send anything (i.e. pictures, videos, articles) to me to post I will check it for copyright infringement.  Pictures and videos need to be public domain or copy left (unlimited distribution) material.   I am treating the article sections (science, philosophy and religion) in a similar fashion that a professional journal would.  Therefore, I will reject any articles unless you authored them yourself and will bar anything plagiarized from other websites or journals.  Please cite within your articles and provide a bibliography or works cited section at the end.

The forum is another great avenue for discussing divisive issues such as evidence for or against evolution, the Big Bang, etc.

Thank you again for reading and I look forward to our future open dialog.

David

Ok. there is a blog?
since February?

And it has had 86 hits.

that must be because we all have it listed on our ytube channels.

So that is a very good thing.

That would remain consistent as long as we are all continuing to be active on ytube.
So here is the thing. Can we do anything with it?
